Pathway To Fellowship Programme
Comprehensive training and support to help International Medical Graduate GPs achieve RACGP Fellowship.
A unique collaborative initiative of DoctorDoctor, Sonic Clinical Services and Health Leaders Australia.
A Collaborative Initiative
DoctorDoctor, Sonic Clinical Services and Health Leaders Australia are collaborating to offer doctors working in the after hours sector a unique opportunity to enhance their ability to achieve RACGP Fellowship.
DoctorDoctor, which was known as the Australian Locum Medical Service since its inception in 1969, is an after hours medical deputising service whose philosophy is that the best medical care results from a coordinated and collaborative relationship built on trust between the after hours doctor, the GP and the patient.
Sonic Clinical Services is the primary care division of Sonic Healthcare, bringing together a range of businesses, including DoctorDoctor, IPN Medical Centres, Sonic HealthPlus and Australian Skin Cancer Clinics, to provide national healthcare services incorporating more than 230 practices and nine different businesses. This network provides unparalled opportunities for continuing education, caseload challenges, income supplementation, community contribution and geographic experience.
Health Leaders Australia is a not-for-profit company that develops and delivers education and training programs for professional development of health sector personnel. Their experience in delivering shared curriculum frameworks and educational resources is integral to the Pathway to Fellowship Programme.
Doctors who complete the Pathway to Fellowship Programme gain access to exceptional career opportunities across the Sonic Clinical Services network. In particular, IPN Medical Centres provide doctors with a supportive team environment focused on delivering high quality patient care.
Pathway To Fellowship Programme
Historically, only 30 to 40 per cent of International Medical Graduate GPs pass RACGP Fellowship exams on their first attempt. With a structured support programme this can be improved significantly.
DoctorDoctor is therefore pleased to be able to offer International Medical Graduate GPs a unique pathway to help achieve RACGP Fellowship.
In partnership with Health Leaders Australia, DoctorDoctor will deliver a structured support programme for international medical graduates valued at $15,000. The programme is aligned with the RACGP curriculum and provides targeted support for participants to prepare for the RACGP Fellowship Exam. Participants in the programme can also access IPN’s IMG Mentor Programme, RACGP GP Learning resources and additional resources.
Further, many International Medical Graduate GPs are unable to meet the RACGP requirement to demonstrate 12 months of full-time fully comparable Australian General Practice experience. Participation in our programme provides opportunities to help meet this requirement through placements across the Sonic Clinical Services national network of IPN Medical Centres.
Candidate selection criteria and a limited return of service agreement apply.
DoctorDoctor is the only after hours medical deputising service in Australia offering this programme.
